About Emil Glocar:
Born amidst the turmoil of early 20th-century Europe, Glocar's path was irrevocably changed when he was exiled to America before the Nazi occupation—an event that saved his life. Although initially a priest and author, his outspoken beliefs led to his separation from the church. Turning to art as a means of expression, Glocar poured his repressed history onto the canvas, creating breathtaking depictions of Slavic landscapes, cityscapes, and the people he longed to serve.

His legacy began just down the street from the Pablo Center, where he worked tirelessly in his second-floor studio at 4 S. Barstow Street during the 1970s before relocating to Milwaukee. His paintings, often purchased directly from his studio, embody stories of struggle, survival, and friendship.

Art collector Jennifer Frickelton recalls, "My parents and I traveled from the Madison area numerous times to visit his studio. Just as important as purchasing his artwork was the special mutual friendship that evolved. I am honored to call Father Glocar ‘friend.’"
