Ar
Art has its own meaning. Just as written language and numeric notation are organized and arranged to convey ideas, visual art functions similarly. Each person who encounters an artwork, comprehends in their own way. There are multiple meanings, and those meanings can be unclear.
The situation that I have created in the gallery is one of many possible configurations of these materials and objects. It represents a way of working that is process based and acknowledges that the act of creating is not static, rather on ongoing relationship between line, form, composition, texture and juxtaposition.
I am interested in creating situations where non-specific ideas merge, a place where 2 or more ideas come together to form a relationship, a possibility, a new association. My work explores the linguistic properties of materials and objects as things that can function as language and be read by the viewer. I invite careful looking at forms and materials where spatial arrangement, and changes in texture generate new meanings. Using common materials and created images, my work forges a visual dialogue about abstraction and perception. Formal elements and ambiguous constructs combine in these collage works to create a tension between the familiar and the unexpected. I am interested in creating situations where non-specific ideas merge, a place where 2 or more ideas come together to form a relationship, a possibility, a new association.
